Why virgin material? First, to prevent any cross-contamination in our raw material stream that could lead to a chemical reaction or leak. Scientific Plastics recycles 99% of its polyethylene trimmings with a trusted local recycler.  And second, Scientific Plastics Take Back Program provides an end of life plan for all its’ materials.  How does Scientific Plastics Take Back Program work?  Easy, either send your products back to us; we will put it into our recycle stream and issue you an End of Life Certificate.   Or call us and we will locate a recycler in your area and certify the material as polyethylene or polypropylene for proper recycling.   This contributes to achieving LEED certification for your project if you are building a new lab and keeps our products out of the landfill when the lab is de commissioned or torn down all together. Scientific Plastics participates with SEFA to establish standards for scientific furniture and our products meet ASTM 1412 for corrosive waste.  We also have many products which meet ADA standards for use and accessibility.
